Site and Show

I'm really diggin the site, very nicley put together and well organized. Nice clean colors and the videos work very well! I am very impressed with your show intro, who did that? Do you have an in house group that did it? I look forward to seeing the rest of the shows. Where is it being syndicated?

Thanks FScot

In addition to our in-house team, we've had some very talented people involved, including Kyle Ruddick of Eyestorm Productions who's doing the motion graphics for our show, and Vestal Design who helped us with our logo and site design. Our show will be syndicated nationwide this summer. If you sign up for our newsletter, we'll let you know when our stationfinder is launched which will allow you to find airdates and times for your area. Thanks for your support. Max

Fantastic Info!

Really enjoyed checking out the website... Are you all seeing many green schools in the Bay Area?!

alternatives to barrels?

I like the idea of capturing the rain but I hate the look of bulky rainbarrels, and I'm not about to rebuild big chunks of my house. I don't know if there are ways to make the barrels more discrete or if there are alternatives but if so I'd love to hear about them. JAS

Rain Water Harvesting

Have you seen the rain barrels from Arid Solutions Inc.? They aren't cheap, but they are good-looking.  www.aridsolutionsinc.com.

I myself am using 60-gallon blue barrels from Rain Barrels and More (http://www.midwestinternetsales.com/rainbarrels.htm). They had been used for olives and pickles from Greece and look great against my adobe walls.  They cost less than the Arid Solutions barrels.

The city of Albuquerque has a rainwater harvesting program with a publication that has information about systems and components, guidelines, and info about resources.  It describes possibilities other than barrels. Maybe other cities have similar programs and information.  Good luck!

Wow!

I never really thought about how much water I use on a daily basis. That's a lot! I wonder if anyone has any suggestions on how to use less water when doing things like washing hands and washing dishes -- things that need to be done every day?

How about an old-fashioned wash basin?

Seems to me that, back when people had to haul their water into the house in buckets, after pumping it out of the ground by hand, they were a lot more conservative with their usage. It's easy enough, I should think, to wash your hands in a plugged sink, using it like a wash basin, instead of under running water. I had never thought to try it, but maybe now I will....
