Green Paint Brush?
16 Jul '07 from maxmsf
The guy in the hardware store said he didn't know of any green paint brushes yet, so I just went for the normal wood-handled version, the bristles are probably synthetic. Does anyone have thoughts on the greenest painting tools? And what about those sprayers, are those good or bad?

re: eco paint brush
Check out my post on an eco paint brush (the Envirobrush). What is great about this paint brush is all you have to do is change the bristles and you keep the handle. Want to use 2 different paints but don't want to wait for the paint brush to dry. Just change bristles. If you ruin the bristles, it is less waste than throwing the whole brush away. I used it and it was great.
So that you know the handle is from a recyled material but the bristles are not.
They just came out with a professional brush as well. It is a Canada company but I found my brush in the hardware store. Anna www.green-talk.com

Paint Stuff
Hey Max.
I would say pick your battles... Try to keep that paint brush around by cleaning it when you've finished so you can reuse it. Go for no or low VOC paint (or Bioshield has some cool clay paints - (www.bioshieldpaint.com). If you use a sprayer, depending on the type of paint you're using, you should probably wear a respirator that has a stacked cartridge - HEPA (for particulates) and VOC (for the gases). You should be able to pick one up at a decent hardware store or Home Depot.
