More Green Wall News

This project comes directly from GLT and the Equinox Fitness Center on 10th Ave between 17 and 18th in NYC. This wall is roughly 650 square feet of our standard 2'x2'x3" depth panels. Planted with a variety of low light tolerant plants the arrangement allows for a variety of textures and colors. The red was an excellent contrast to the custom metal rail and mahogany stairs. Throughout the wall there are roughly 3800 plants. The upper and lower portions of the wall will be flanked by water features making this high class club more like a spa setting then a stretching area. A combination of water and live plants is a very relaxing way to wind down.

In the GLT news room things are heating up at two extremes of the globe. The green wall is finding popularity in Anchorage Alaska as indoor displays and upright gardens, great way to bring vegetation indoors! And in the South GLT has partnered with Mark Aston and the ICS Group (Tel: 310-377-7800) to incorporate GLT's Green Roof and Green Wall Technologies in Barbados and surrounding islands. In "Entertainment News", I always wanted to say that, Urban Farming (LA) has officially announced partnerships with both GLT and Warner Brothers to incorporate the green wall into urban areas creating editable crop production. GLT is also a proud sponsor of the Go Green Expo NY (www.gogreenexpo.com)featuring green technologies through out the show and you can expect to see the first commissioned custom art work by Susan Rowley to be on display. The commissioned piece will include a 6' one of a kind sculpture incorporating the GLT Green Wall. The owner of the piece has asked to remain anonymous due to their "A" list popularity. Lots of Green....Wall that is!

It has been a very busy December for us....first I am sorry for not saying high to our new friends that added us ....welcome and thank you! feel free to contact me anytime...... This latest project was a collaborative idea by Architect Robin Elmslie Olser (reosler@eoarch.com / www.eoarch.com). Thank you Robin for thinking outside the box! We incorporated roughly a 1900 +/- square foot soil based green wall in our standard 2'x2'x3" 100% recyclable modules. The panels were pre-grown off site and then brought to the project for installation. The result was a product that is 90% mature allowing for instant benefits and immediate aesthetics. In fact it was not 30 seconds after we removed the caution tape people were walking right up to it.......The green wall is facing a South South East elevation and will absorb the UV rays keeping the building cooler, during the 110 degree days, by preventing heat loss and heat gain. The primary source of irrigation is natural rainwater with an installed irrigation system to supplement during periods of drought. The recycled copper catch basin at the bottom will corral any excess water to be used in the adjacent landscaping along the public areas.

Look for some updated Deco-Walls later this weekend.....our manufacturing dept. has been very creative!

Green Walls not Just for Large Applications

This is not your common Chia Pet....this is a mini version BKA our Table Top Green Wall. It has a standard 4" x 6" x 3" cell but it has a built in watering system and it is manufactured from stainless steel. Because of the ability to customize it we can make a variety of finishes including copper, brass, paint etc....We can also laser engrave as seen below. Great gift idea or for someone who has limited space. It has been very succesful growing herbs and editable vegetables....see our garden wall (Official Supporter of UrbanFarming.org) below and to the right.

The pic above is a Deco Piece created specifically for Green Living Technologies by Susan Ferrari- Rowley.

More Deco Table Tops will be released in the next few months, through GLT Susan also does one of a kind signature pieces using the GLT Green Wall....

Anything is possible, your only limited to your imagination......

Interior Green Wall pics

In my last post I gave everyone the opportunity to do your due diligence....

Specifically we area a Green Technologies company specifically manufacturing and designing green roofs, green walls and accessories. We are based in upstate NY and service clients on a global platform. Through our 55,000 sf manufacturing facility and our primary 50 acre R&D / Growing facility we offer a wide range of options to include custom design and decor (Decorative wraps such as copper, brass, painted, or powder coated), custom dimensions and unlimited design options, we can even do concave and convex green walls and customized the depth of growth media to match the plant material for your green wall.......so don't be locked into a one dimensional product we offer unlimited design options! If your an installer or want to represent a company with unlimited options please contact us directly. The pictures included in this post are of a 250 sf interior tropical arrangment in low lighting conditions. The wall is custom fabricated using our standard 4" x 6"x 3" (depth) cells and custom stainless steel catch basin for irrigation. The Green Living Technologies (GLT) Green Wall was developed as an application to use on extreme sloped green roofs. It is now manufactured and marketed for both extreme sloped green roofs and vertical green walls. The green walls are made of a light weight 100% recycled aluminum and the cells provide superior drainage (unlike other living wall panels that have sitting water at the root level) and root migration abilities. This project was a planted in place system...... We offer 3 planting options:

1. Our P.O.D. TM (Plant on Demand) allowing for a pre-vegetated inserts that are delivered over 90% mature. We or you can hang the empty lightweight green wall panels and then insert your P.O.D. with the vegetation already grown.

2. We can plant in place as pictured.

3. We can pre-grow the plant material directly in the module in one of our many growing facilities.

Enjoy the pictures, it was great to see another succesful project! Please feel free to contact us we look forward to your feedback.

Green Walls / Living Walls

Im posting this simply to educate the audience on the concept of "Green Walls".......Green Walls according to Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC, www.greenroofs.org) can be categorized into 2 areas, Green Facades and Living Walls. In simplicity Green Facades are a structural based system such as a modular trellis or cable system to include a soil base with climbing plant material. Living Walls are a growing media based system from top to bottom that is retained within a modular unit. Thirdly there are the systems, such as a Patrick Blanc that are a non media based system but do require a consistent flow of irrigation. In addition there is also the Bio-Wall that was designed to allow air to pass through and redistributed to various parts of the building.....If you are interested in the various systems you can view the Greenwalls 101 course offered by GRHC.....
