
This is the Eastern Elevation. I can honestly say, I was surprised the house ended up looking so "big." Upon approach, you see only the top level (Western elevation) but from the East, you see both floors. The beauty of this house is the fact the downstairs is half buried under ground, making optimum use of the insulation provided by the earth. There are 3 BR and a Family room at this level, and it is so cool down there in the summer. 4 Solatubes bring light to areas that would otherwise not get any sun.
The hand crafted rafter tails are all made from recycled wood from a factory. It is absolutely stunning, and super hard. They don't grow wood like this anymore!
The board that runs horizontally across the whole back is for the roof that will eventually be built off the back...
