I am a general contractor located in the San Bernardino Mountains in So. California. I have been studying straw bale construction for 7 years. This last year (2007) I completed building my first straw bale home in Twin Peaks, Calif. It also is in the San Bernardino Mountains (5,500 ft. elevation). I have recently put all my eggs in one basket and decided to dedicate my construction knowledge to green building. My hope is that with the recent fires that destroyed over 400 homes in and around my mountain community that I can get the newley formed San Bernardino County Green Building Program to promote green in the re-construction of the homes lost. As of January 2008 I will be at the doors of SBCBP to urge them to become agressive in educating people that have lost there homes that there is an alternative to standard housing. I am a baby boomer who really did not embrace the "Tree Hugger" all that much since I loved the outdoors and did not like restrictions. As I have studied straw bale construction it has lead me to a different conclusion. We need to have low energy, low impact and healthier places to live and work. I believe that this Green movement is not a fad but here to stay. My goal is to become a premier builder of those types of enviroments.

Currently I am in the process of changing the name of my company from Patrick Preciado Construction to Green Builder Construction, Inc. I have built one straw bale home and a partial home in Phoenix, Arizona. I plan on concentrating my business in both California and Arizona.
