Energy Independent Housing

Energy Independent Housing

Total energy independent housing might sound like a radical notion, but as the price of heat and power an food continue to rise total energy independence is starting to look like a more viable option. In the good old days we'd send out our children to fetch water from the well, We had outhouses and cooked our supper on an open hearth. Today many people work from home and only use their cars to shop for groceries etc. The internet has become a way of sharing information. A roof should be more than a structure to shed water and a sun room should be more than a place for the cat to sleep. In the future we must learn to make better use of space and treasure those resources that we now take for granted... This solar heated house with a PV power system and an attached solar greenhouse may seem a bit radical now but I expect this type of dwelling to be commonplace in 50 years when the price of oil is $50 per gallon.
