sustainable living

Flexible building systems

The name for this project is SuperFlex System, the Idea is to use the power form the sun to supply the building, and from a sociological point of view, to make a building that is capable of adapting to the changing family structures we have today.

Many people live in the same house throughout their lives in a building that at some point is way too small and later way too big! And that's not sustainable in any way!

The plan consists of an outerskin/greenhouse covered in EFTE/foil-tec with solar cells witch keeps the climate inside the structure on a comfortable level. This is the semi outdoor space, where its possible to have green plants all year, but 1-2 months a year it's too cold to consider a inside space. Inside the structure living units can be added, as many as the residents need. The unit is made of a bamboo fiber material and painted with thermo chromic paint to make it able to accumulate or reflect solar heat... I have no idea if this will work but it's a great thought! ;D

The structure is expandable and can suit many types of inhabitants, such as singles, families, a group of friends, one guy with a big interest in whatever... something that takes a lot of space, ect. tennis and so on. Just buy more units or greenhouse sections, or sell them to someone who need the space, if you don’t!

I also made a more low-tech bamboo version of this project recently, for a competition announced by a company on Hawaii, I think the name was Bambooliving... This project is the first of two bamboo schemes for the competition, where the second whent to the final and very soon is going to be a part of a travelling exhibition, which so far is going to Beijing, Guangzhou (China) and Kassel (Germany).
