Critter Protection

Using hay is great for thermal protection, but squirrels and mice love it. How do you protect against a home invasion? Once they are in, they have a ready made mansion.

Mice in bales

Remember, we do not use hay.  We use straw that has no grain that attracts rodents looking for food.  Straw makes a nice home, but just like any other house, we have to eliminate all points of entrance for mice, squirrels or anything else.  Once the bales are plastered the rodents would have to get through 2 inches of plaster or into the attic and down into the bales.  We did have to chase away and trap some stowaways that came with the bales, but once the house got sealed up, we were fine.

CFL (low energy) light bulbs

I don't get it - on the same page where you are discussing the gauss meter and dangers of EMFs you are promoting low energy lightbulbs (CFLs) Have you ever used your gauss meter on a low energy lightbulb? It goes through the roof!
