I am trying to do some research on Carbon Credits. Has anybody delt with a Carbon Broker or with these Carbon Credits before? I am a little lost since they seem to be incredibly popular overseas but not so much here in the US. Please help!!

Hey Cardinal, I don't have a ton of personal experience with them really, other than the fact that I've purchased some credits for flights that I have taken (about $15/flight). Here are a couple of things that have been written on our site that have some other links:

There's quite a debate about the concept-- some think that it's not really a solution at all, it's just shuffling around the problem. I have heard some seasoned environmentalists, however, such as Hunter Lovins and Michel Gelobter reference them as a good short-term solution as companies clean up their operations. I've also had some contact with a company in the bay area called Planktos that receives money from the credits, and goes and repairs wet-lands with it. That was a real eye-opener for me since it made me realize that there's real work and environmental improvement happening as a result of these programs.
And by the way, Tom Levine has a business based on carbon credit consulting-- he'd be a good person to check with. - maxmsf
