All we need is some more framers...
Right now I am having a hard time finding framers that have experience with SIPs. Some framers I talked to have very little or no experience, and they want to charge a premium just to learn it! It's a little frustrating, but I really hope we can train up more framing crews (I just need a framing sub, since I'm owner building). Should I just hire you and pay for you to come to Austin, TX and train up a framing crew? :-)
I even contacted SIPA and they said they here a lot of complaints about not enough SIP Framing Crews.... hmmm... a business idea?

Myleen

The Side That's Always Greener....
The class went great!
Thanks guys for checking in on us. As usual there was not a huge turnout. We had about 15 people. Thankfully the snow melted on Friday and we only had one person cancel. I wish that I could have pictures of the plant but they have a privacy policy and cameras are strickly forbidden. I will see if I can get permission sometime and get some on the site.
Now as for Myleen's comment. Did your distributor have a tech rep that they'd be willing to send out? Some distributors will give one free day of a Tech Reps service and then a fee for the additional days requested. Also if the builder that you have subcontracted is smart they will eat the cost of the tech rep because this will benefit them in the future. They should look at it as continuing education.
If you need me or one of my guys to come out there I'm sure we'd be more than happy to. (My one tech rep will loves to fly so he would jump on the opportunity to come help) Feel free to e-mail or call me if there are any questions that your subs have. What kind of panels did you guys end up with? Most are similar but some are better than others.
I will post again soon about next months class (We have about 3 a year all free of charge). We believe that once people are educated about the benefits of SIPs they won't go with anything else.
