Well to make a long question "short". I have been working on getting financing for my Eco Friendly cafe for the past 2 years. Every bank I approach has denied my loan request because I am a start up business. I have proven through my exhaustive research, in my business plan that just such a business would thrive in Bloomington Indiana. I have a proposed location that is being built and the developer is going for LEED certification (the location of the building is in the downtown Bloomington area next to Indiana University).
What I need to find out is if there are any places out there that I can acquire a business loan based on the "green" aspect of my cafe. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated in this. The location that I am interested in will be finished by summer of 2010. So I have a little time, but I really want to get this going ASAP!!

I wish you good luck to set up your business.
I really don't anderstand why bank are like this. They don't let any luck to young people who have very good idea.
Life is unfare.
Good luck, I am sure evrything gonna be ok.
Chip, Very glad to meet
Chip,
Very glad to meet you, My dear sisters (and their hubbies) own The Celtic Knot, celtic import shop here in Jackson, CA. They were just started changing over their Cafe to a local Irish pub when the economy nose-dived, very tough in Jackson, county offices moved from walking to driving distance, many bizes closed... But the shop is hanging in there!
I wish I had a good answer for you on the funding question... but I will hold a good thought for you!

Thank you
Michael-
I actually will be going through the local SBDC and a program they have called Seed Corp. Through them I will be eligible for a $35,000.00 small business loan. The only problem I have is that I worry that will not be enough to do all that I have planned. As far as decor, advertising equipment, a set amount set aside for security and inventory I can make do with that amount.
The biggest concern I have is the amount of money that it will cost to go into new storefront, in a new building and the cost of construction for a 2000 sq ft area. Just to give you an idea, above the cafe will be high end condos. The developer is going for LEED certification with an energy efficient building materials and white roof.
Any other suggestions and or advice you could provide would be greatly appreciated!!
Sincerely,
