I have just completed a beautiful Energy Efficient, Compresses Earth Block home in Colorado and would like to exchange ideas with any other Green Builders / Constructors. I will continue to post pics / vids and information on this type of construction, in hopes to expand public knowledge of better building concepts that are environmentally healthy inside and out, as well as affordable.

Does the compressed block house in colorado from your website use any
insulation? I didn't see any. If so, what kind and why? Thanks! jane
insulation
Yes the home has about 2-3" of insulation on the exterior over the raw block, the product is SWIR spray on polyurethane insulation. We used it because it can be applied directly to the block and cures quickly and is then non-toxic, it contains no residue or VOCs to bleed out or off-gas, it saves trees with lower lumber requirements, it has an r-value of over six per inch, it reduces heating / cooling loads, saves energy, reduces pollution, it has no formaldehyde, it is a FEMA class 4 resistant material, it helps prevent mold and mildew, it blocks airborne pollutants, it seals gaps and does not have asbestos, glass or cellulose fibers and in most cases the foam does not require a vapor barrier. However it is more expensive.
You can view a short video of the application process on our Naturals Builders networking site. www.BuilditGreen.ning.com
