Eco-Friendly Mobile Phone Pouches Launched

Thu, 03/18/2010

A new kind of pouch has been released by Anokimobi LTD., the world’s first range of mobile phone pouches made from eco-friendly and recycled materials. The E-Pouch is constructed with a combination of eco-friendly materials ranging from outer fabrics to recycled filters. This new pouch thus becomes a green alternative to mobile phone pouches on sale in the high street. Even the e-pouch.co.uk website is hosted on a carbon–offset server.

$100,000 Solar Powered Road to Be Built

Thu, 03/18/2010

Don’t be surprised if you soon see solar powered sidewalks lighting up and providing us an interactive way to stroll and drive in. Solar Roadways has received a $100,000 grant from the Department of Transportation to build roads which can display warnings for pedestrians and drivers. Messages and warnings would apparently be shown somewhere in the future where solar panels will be used to power these LED warnings.

Subsequently, the road in front of the drivers would light up with LEDs, displaying the message. The panels themselves also come with a heating unit, so that when it snows, the panels are still readable. Microprocessors within the panels work as the communication between panels. Basically, it sounds like Solar Roadways have covered all their bases.

Lindsay Lohan To Introduce Waterless Toothbrush

Thu, 03/18/2010

I just received an email from United Treatment Centers on a new waterless toothbrush that Lindsay Lohan’s mom is set to promote and debut tomorrow.

The Aquafree toothbrush is meant to conserve H2o (a/k/a water) as it cleans with liquid dentrifice. The center is claiming that this toothbrush could potentially save US households, about 2 gallons of water daily. Which when computed among all US households this adds up to BILLIONS of gallons of water that could be saved every day.

Not sure how the liquid dentrifice works and or how no water is to be used. But Lindsay Lohan’s mom is set to premier the Aquafree toothbrush tomorrow at the Go Green Expo in New York.

AT&T Zero Charger Helps Charge and Conserve Energy

Wed, 03/17/2010

AT&T has come up with a keen solution to help address the recharging needs of mobile phones and devices with a sensor that can detect if they are not properly plugged in. Once the contraption detects that the handset is not plugged into a charger, it will automatically cut off the power supply from the wall socket, saving consumers rising energy bills and saving on electricity use as well.

Aside from that the Zero Charger also aims to improve charging efficiency when charging a device.

NoMix Toilet Promises More Water Savings

Tue, 03/16/2010

Here is another creation that should help us save more on water. The NoMix toilet is another type of toilet solution that has a urinal in the front half of the bowl. The disposed waste (urine) runs from there to the storage tank. The back half of the bowl is like a conventional toilet, where the solid waste lands and gets flushed away.

Apparently, separating the waste from the urinal system helps wastewater treatment plants gain 80 percent less nitrogen and 50 percent less phosphorous. So in a nutshell, these would help address the fish and wildlife from contracting diseases via water. But this invention needs more improvement if it is to work.

For the waste separation to work most effectively, men needed to sit down to pee. And when women were finished with a urine-only sitting, they needed to do something with their used toilet paper other than flush it. Overall, 60 percent of the users encountered problems of some sort, most notably phosphate precipitate blockages in the urine drainage system. As you can see, it has a long way to go but give the NoMix people credit for breaking the ice.

Solarmer Energy Eyeing 10% Efficiency from Plastic Solar Cells

Tue, 03/16/2010

It seems that an 8% efficiency from plastic solar cells is not enough and now Solarmer Energy is eyeing to up that a notch, 10% efficiency by the end of the year. And that is just the start. Apparently they are eyeing more as the years progress which should be something positive to consider especially in these times that energy sources are becoming a problem.

Considering that solar power is certainly going to be an important part of our future, we certainly hope that they get great results in improving solar technology. With all the rant about solar power to rev up vehicles, homes and gadgets, this will certainly be something that will work to our advantage.

Eco Friendly iPad Cases

Tue, 03/16/2010

The Apple iPad has recently been announced, and will soon be released to the public. People everywhere are excited to get their hands on this new eco-friendly device. Already there are a ton of eco-friendly iPad covers and cases being made. The iPad will change the way we look at electronics, and will open the road for many new inventions in the near future. With all the excitement, people are also looking for even more eco-friendly accessories, such as cases and solar chargers, to match their ‘green’ iPad. Even though the iPad was announced only a few weeks ago, accessories are popping up everywhere to fit your style and preferences.

One such accessory that is a perfect match for the iPad is eco-friendly cases. There are many different cases for you to choose from. These eco-friendly leather cases have become very popular for those who are interested in a durable and elegant design. Marware offers excellent quality leather cases that will keep your iPad safe. The Eco-Vue case is a very stylish folio. This case is made out of eco-friendly leather. It flips open from the top, making it a case and a display stand.

Also available is the Burlap iPad case. This case is made out of, yes you guessed it, burlap. It is lined with cotton and padded with fleece to give your iPad the extra cushion it needs to keep it safe. It also has a large pocket on the front of the case that if a perfect fit for the iPad’s charger.

Another excellent case is the ColcaSac iPad cover, which with fit your iPad like a glove. The case is made out of very strong materials that are kind to the environment. It will protect your iPad from scratches, bumps and spills, and will look adorable too.

Another excellent way to make the iPad even more eco-friendly is to charge it using the sun by using a solar charger. One excellent solar charger is the Solio Charger. This charger is very uniquely designed as a fan-blade. This design allows it to collect more solar power, and then uses that power to charge your iPad in the same amount of time it would take with the normal iPad chargers. This charger will hold the power it collects in an internal charger. It can fit in your pocket, allowing it to be available wherever and whenever you need it.

Eco-friendly accessories are a very good way to help you to start living a ‘green’ lifestyle. They are long lasting and durable, and they have been made so as to not hurt the earth that we live on.

That’s why vegan footwear designer Olsenhaus is making a switch of its own—by cladding its entire Fall/Winter 2010 collection of pumps, wedges, stiletto booties, and knee-highs in an innovative polyester microfiber made from trashed television screens.
