Consider this: Live Potted Christmas Trees! Yep, no tree farm, no PVC producing or even recylced PVC nonrenewable non-biodegradable resourced Christmas Tree choice. Live potted trees can be planted outdoors after Christmas. When you run out of room in the yard, you can check your parks department or schools to see if they will accept donated trees. If you went ahead and got a cut tree, you may find that the department of sanitation or public works wants your tree. These departments use recycled cut trees as 'fences' to prevent coastal erosion. They also turn them into mulch for other use. You can get a live potted Christmas tree at farmer's markets or Gardening Centers. If your concern is having a huge tree in the yard, look for dwarf varieties. Getting ready for planting, it is best to dig the hole in the back yard before the ground freezes, then surround the roots with much and stake it. With a fifty-fifty chance of surviving you can bring your last year's Christmas tree in from the back yard every year until it gets too big to be a Christmas Tree. It is best to keep the tree in the house no longer than ten days. If kept in it's pot and placed outside you will be able to bring it back in, pot and all, for next year's Christmas celebration. Don't want to do the work? Check out livingchristmastrees.org where they will deliver a live potted Christmas tree to your door, and pick it up after New Years!

Live potted xmas trees
I have been searching like crazy to find a live potted Christmas tree to send to one of my sons in Brooklyn. Lots of talk on www about live potted Christmas trees but I can not find one site that sells them. I am looking for one about 4 feet tall and not in the hundreds of dollars. Anything you can share with me would be graetly appreciated. Thanks!
Potted tree
We buy a potted tree every year for my sons home and then plant in our yard in the spring. they are lovely reminders of Christmas past.
I love this idea.
I really do love this idea.
I was actually just telling someone about the advantages of buying a pre-potted Christmas tree. It is really wasteful to cut down a tree every after year. Having a potted tree allows you to enjoy the tree long after the holiday season is over.
